Shri S K Bansal, IPS

Director General of Police, Odisha

The 1987-batch IPS officer assumed charge as Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) on December 31, 2021 on a two-year term. Bansal, who left Odisha on Central deputation in 1994, has served as the Special Director of Intelligence Bureau (IB) in Delhi. Prior to moving to the IB, the IPS officer was Superintendent of Police in Dhenkanal, Angul and Mayurbhanj districts of Odisha. A commerce graduate, Bansal, was a Chartered Accountant before he opted for a career in law enforcement. He also holds a degree in law.

Shri Arun Bothra, IPS

ADG, CIDCB, Odisha

The 1996-batch IPS officer is currently serving as the Additional Director General of Police of the Criminal Investigation Department – Crime Branch (CID-CB) and Transport Commissioner. Earlier, he served as Managing Director of Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) from July 2019 to June 2022 and as CMD in Odisha State Road Transport Corporation from January 2020 to June 2022. He also worked as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in Central Electricity Supply Utility (CESU) of Odisha from August 2019 to January 2020• He has made significant contributions in Odisha Police with various capacities as Inspector General of Police (Crime, Modernisation, Economic Offences etc.). He also served as SP & DIG in Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Govt. of India from 2009 to 2014 in New Delhi & Kolkata.

Smt. Rekha Lohani, IPS

Addl. DGP, CAW&CW, Odisha

The 1997 batch Odisha cadre IPS officer graduated in Economics from St Stephens College in 1993 and did her MA in the same subject from JNU in 1995. She started her career from ASP (U/T) in Angul in 1998. Lohani was posted as Superintendent of Police (SP) in important districts like Sonepur, Nayagarh and Balasore and SP Vigilance in Bhubaneswar Division. In 2010, she did PG Diploma in Cyber Laws from NALSAR University in Hyderabad. She served a two-year stint in Bhubaneswar Commissionerate as DCP HQ and Addl. CP in 2011 and 2012 respectively. She was also on central deputation to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) where she worked in the Intelligence Bureau from 2012 to 2015 and CRPF from 2016 to 2019. Lohani made a mark for herself in State police administration as IG Modernisation in 2019-2020 and as Addl. CP, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack for 2020-21. Since January 1, 2022, Lohani has been making valuable contributions in controlling crime against women and children in the State as Addl. DGP, CAW&CW. She also represented India at the UN Seminar on 4th Female Senior Police Officer Command Development Course held at Amman Jordan in 2018. She was awarded with Police Medal for Meritorious Services in 2013, bagged DG CRPF Disc in 2017 and 2018 and felicitated with Governor's Medal in 2020 and DGP's Disc for 2021-22.
