With improved access to education and employment, millions of Indian women are entering the country’s workforce today and all women have the right to work in safe and secure environment. Besides investigating/monitoring cases of sexual harassment, CAW&CW has mandate to create awareness about legal framework and support structures available for women at their workplace or neighbourhood. It is important for both employers and employees to be aware of any incidence of sexual harassment at the workplace and report to police for action.

Laws for Sexual Harassment at Workplace: Apart from the Vishaka guidelines in the case of Vishaka & Ors. Vs. State of Rajasthan, the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act was passed in 2013, defining sexual harassment, laying down the procedures for a complaint and inquiry, and the action to be taken. Besides, Section 354-A, 354-C & 354-D IPC have been inserted by Criminal Law (Amendment) Act 2013 to tackle this crime.
