The Persons Missing Monitoring Unit (PMMU) set up at CAW&CW is the nodal cell that monitors incidences of people reported missing in the State. Upon receipt of information about missing persons, the descriptive rolls of the persons with photographs are published in newspapers, television channels, etc. for circulation among the general public, after due consent from parents/guardians in case of a minor. After she/he is traced, the person is reunited with the family.

Besides issuing guidelines to all the police districts and monitoring data received from field units, PMMU keeps liaison with the Central organisations like CBI, NCRB, IB, Interpol, etc on missing person issues. In cases of sensitive and critical importance, the investigation is taken up by CAW&CW.
