The Investigative Units on Crime Against Women (IUCAWs) is an initiative to have a focussed investigation on cases of crime against women with a special emphasis on gender-based violence and instilling confidence in women/girls who come forward with a complaint. 29 such investigating units have been established in various districts of Odisha.

Composition: Each IUCAW is headed by one Additional Superintendent of Police rank officer who is assisted by two DSPs, four inspectors, four sub-inspectors and four constables. One third of the posts in such  IUCAWs are for women officials.
